Logitech Master Mouse Bluetooth FIx

Fix for stuttering, lag in Bluetooth mouse on Windows 10

Here’s how I fixed the stuttering and lag issue with my Logitech MX Master working with Windows 10 Home and Pro:

  1. Open up the System screen within the Control Panel (keyboard shortcut: Win+Pause/Break)
  2. Open Device Manager from the list of links on the left panel
  3. Expand the Network adapters section to list your network adapters (e.g. WiFi, Bluetooth, VPN, etc.)
  4. Double click your WiFi network adapter to open the Device Properties dialog (in my case this is a Dell Wireless 1830 802.11ac)
  5. Switch to the Advanced tab (if you cannot see an Advanced tab then close this dialog and double click the other Network Adapters until you find one that has it)
  6. Within the Property list select Bluetooth Collaboration
  7. Change the Value of the dropdown list from Auto to Disabled
  8. Click OK to save changes

That’s it!

The WiFi network adapter will restart the device so expect to lose network access for a moment before network access is restored. Happy days.

Update 1: Yeah the above helped but didn’t fix it entirely, somehow unticking the Enable pointer shadow option within the Mouse Properties dialog (open Start then type in Mouse) makes a big difference, I do still notice some stutter when copying files or using Google Photos.

Update 2: Uninstalling the Realtek AC’97 software from Add/Remove Software and restarting did wonders on-top of the above steps. No more stutter!

  1. The instructions in the posts or in the comments didn’t help me but I finally solved my issue. So basically I was very stupid and used a Bluetooth dongle from my other laptop even though my PC’s motherboard already supports Bluetooth.
    🙂

  2. For me it was enough that I plugged the USB receiver into the front of the PC case. I use the mouse on the desktop PC.

  3. I have a Lenovo (Intel Wi-Fi 6) and I fixed the Logitech issue with Fat Channel intolerance value changed to Enabled.

  4. THANK YOU, I’m so glad a didn’t have sledge hammer the mouse. The stuttering, jittery mouse has been an infuriating problem. I can’t tell you how many demos, product walk-thru went so badly because of this problem. THANK YOU FOR THIS FIX!!

  5. Lag on K350 keyboard and M705 Mouse:

I had a terrible lag that rendered the components unusable. Did some digging and found this. Plugged the receiver into the USB Extension Cord that came with the keyboard and plugged the extension cord into my laptop (most others called it the Logitech Dongle). This allows the receiver to be about 2 feet away from the laptop and closer to the keyboard and mouse. All lagging was corrected and as of right now, has not reappeared in 7 hours or so – absolutely no lagging.

I think the issue is interference from PCs using Windows 10 in conjunction with the bluetooth signal the PC emanates. I have a brand new laptop and, like nearly everyone else, didn’t have this issue with my older laptop and MS Win 7.

    Good luck!

  6. Thank you for the post! I had a desktop so no Wifi adapter, uninstalled realtek driver and rebooted – no change. Moving USB dongle from the back of my desktop to the front panel closer to the keyboard and mouse did the trick.

  7. you can go to add a device and try re-pairing your mouse to the unifiyer this can help sometimes as well.

  8. In my case I’ve changed the setting from “Auto” to “Enabled” and set the “Minimum Power Consumption” to disabled either.

  9. With the latest bootcamp drivers, I disabled Minimum Power Consumption as Bluetooth Collaboration is no longer an option. This instantly fixed the issue for me (no need for a restart).

  10. Fix worked. Many thanks. This seems to be a common problem with Macbook Pro’s running Bootcamp on Windows 10.

  11. l’ve been looking for for this since I got my bluetooth mouse.
Realtek really is a problem. I’m glad to find your article. Thanks a lot! 😉

  12. Thanks Heaven! and Thanks to you very much. YOU are THE BEST. My Asus Vivotab Note 8 paired with Dell Travel mouse and even disabling Bluetooth collabs ain’t help. Literally, Who could have thought it is “REALTEK” software related!!! I uninstalled it and install only sound driver, now my mouse lag no more!!

    Thanks again mate

  13. I’ve just unticked the ‘enable mouse pointer shadow’. It has resolved my juddering bluetooth mouse problem.

    Thanks for the solution!

  14. You’re a mouse-whisperer …

I’m on bootcamp and tried 2 different mice on 20+ surfaces thinking it was a mouse-pad problem. Booted to Mac, worked fine … back to Windows, search for solution and …

Now I can play a game during my vacation 🙂

  15. TY fixed the issue… it was because i was uploading too much.. and the wireless Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller running at 2.4ghz wifi… couldnt handle it.. so i increased the router to 5 ghz and no issues… its just the threshold.

  16. Theres no option for the Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller. on the Surface pro 2017.

What an unfortunately turn of events. Oh well.

  17. My MX Master is not recognizable from Device Manager as Logitech HID Unyfing Compliant Mouse. Only HID Compliant Mouse. It’s seen but Wireless and Bluetooth only it’s wrong Icon in Device and Printers and name MX Master. I feel it would be better if Windows recognize him properly in Device Manager.

  18. Thank you so much!

The collaboration worked for me. I have been trying to fix this for several days now.

  19. You just saved me after hours of experimentation. The sad part is that the Microsoft support can’t come up with this solution through endless threads with people that have this problem. You are the nights hero.

  20. Tried a bunch of the settings above, nothing really helped.

Interesting to note that although I assumed there was collision between bluetooth and wifi (most of the solutions above point to that), any settings on the computer to adjust the wifi had no effect.

Then the aha! moment… what if it’s just my router signal?

Changed the channel on my 2.4ghz wifi from Auto to 3 (but you can pick any number really) and the problem went away. Seems that the router was occasionally picking a channel that messed with my bluetooth mouse.

For those who are debugging the problem, one sure way to tell that it’s interference is by unplugging any wifi broadcasting devices that are nearby. If the problem goes away, you are likely dealing with interference.

  21. I disabled “Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)” and the lag gone. I can re-enable “Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)” to experience the lag again.

  22. Hi all,

No luck trying suggested tricks on HP Spectre 13 with same symptoms while using MX Master.

BUT… looking for the bluetooth collaboration setting in device manager, I noticed a “Logitech Download Assistant” under “Human Interface Devices”. Disabled that and… magic happened: no more stutters or lags !

Thanks for pointing me into that direction ! 😉

    1. Woop! Thanks for letting us know about that Logitech Download Assistance device. I had a “Logitech USB Input Device” listed within the Human Interface Devices (HID) section.

      1. I disabled Logitech Download Assistance. Mouse got jerkier. Re-enable it, rebooted, and voila! Mouse behaves perfectly.

  23. Thanks so much for this – 100% fixed the problem. I was running Windows 10 bootcamp on a 2016 MacBook Pro with a Logitech MX Master 2S and had absolutely awful stutter. Worked a charm!

  24. Hi , thanks for nice post , but I do not have Wi-fi adapter no my desktop PC —> there is not a wifi network adapter 😛 …
I also try to uninstall the logitech app for the mouse and it looks like it help a little , but it still lag… any idea ?

    thx

    1. No uninstaling app does not help …
I try to find any advanced settings inside devcice manager , and I did find , but there are no such thinks what could help me.

  25. Useless info! There is NO “Bluetooth Collaboration” option and certainly NO Advanced tab in Win 10 Device Manager!!

    1. Hi Naysayer, that just means the drivers of your WiFi network adapter have no advanced options. Switching to a different or more recent driver might unlock those options.

What WiFi network adapter do you have?

    2. I had an advanced tab located there but to Bluetooth Collaboration option, but it seems so for other people. How about next time instead of getting triggered because you don’t have the same fix as other people and cry ‘Useless info!’, do some investigative work and try to solve the issue.

  26. The lag/stutter occurs when the charger is connected to laptop. It is smooth when the charger is disconnected.

Disabling Bluetooth Collaboration on my “Broadcom Network Adapter” resolved the issue for me.

    Laptop: MacbookPro 15″ (2015)
OS: Windows 10 (1709) using Bootcamp
    Logitech Options Version: 6.72.344

  27. I also encountered this problem with the mx master, and despite my pc being quite powerful the problem was really bad, especially if I linked to another computer with remote desktop – in some cases the mouse pointer would just stop moving entirely.

The hints in this post definitely helped, and reduced the scale of the problem but did not fix it.

I found the largest problem accidentally when I finally reverted to my mx performance mouse (which never had a problem) and found that it was stuttering too.

The LARGEST problem is the logitech mouse software (options). De-install and reboot, using only the default microsoft mouse driver. Problem solved.

It seems that logitech, like several other companies today, is no longer capable of writing usable software.

    1. Can you please expand on this because I have the same problem with my mx Master. What EXACTLY should I do to solve this issue.

      Thanks a lot btw

  28. For me deleting “Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)” as well as “Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)” and then running “Scan for hardware change” to re-add those devices did the magic. HP – Windows 10 where I have Realtek Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter. Posting as it might be helpful to someone.

    1. I have tried this several times, doesn’t work.
I was having intermittent connection with my keyboard as well. That seems to have been sorted out, but mx master 2s still has the issue. Have tried using just the mouse and not the keyboard, but that doesn’t solve it either. Using windows 10. Just can’t use the mouse at all.

    2. Ravi! It worked! Thank you very much!
I’m using RAPOO 6010B with Lenovo T470, your tip fixed it for me.
I went to Device Manager > Network Adapters> disabled “Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)” and “Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)”
The mouse works much better now, a lot smoother.

      1. Hi Meir,
Thanks a MILLION for this tip — I’ve been using a RAPOO 6000 Bluetooth mouse too (with Dell Inspiron 7373 on Win 10 Home) and have been tortured with this constant stutter / lag problem for months but after I followed your tip to “disable Bluetooth Device (PAN)” from Device Manager, my mouse works beautifully now – Zero lag whatsoever!

What’s interesting is that we can STILL ADD and USE any other Bluetooth devices with these laptops no problem when the Bluetooth Device is disabled in Network Adapters. In fact, I’m using my Bluetooth keyboard to type up this message 🙂

I think the root cause here is that such “Bluetooth Device” is NOT the peripheral devices we’re connecting to PC to use but Network Adapter (functioning with Bluetooth protocols) in coming in conflict with our devices!

I’m soooo happy that this issue is finally fixed, thanks to your very helpful posting OP! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

  29. Hello,

there is no “Bluetooth Collaboration” option under the Advanced tab on my wifi adapter.

My laptop, Lenovo Y700, has Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 3156 adapter.

    Any ideas?

  30. After installing Windows 10 Creator’s Update and a few more updates since then, the mouse lag returned. I actually had to RE-ENABLE Bluetooth collaboration on my wireless adapter to resolve it. Go figure.

    1. Fingers crossed that means they got Bluetooth Collaboration to work as expected then in that update. 😀

What would be good to know is whether that feature is managed by the driver or by the OS.

    1. Brilliant. I was about to throw my mouse and computer off the balcony. This fix worked like a charm. How did you ever figure this out?

      1. Hi Cameron, nice! Alot of reading followed by trial and error… I swear after debugging this issue I am an expert in WiFi vs Bluetooth RF interference! 😀

  31. Hey, this actually worked for me, you saved my mouse’s life (i almost threw it out the window).
    Thanks for the tip.

  32. Thank you very much for that tip !!!
After further testing, I found that the best solution is to use 5 GHZ WiFi instead of 2.4

    1. Hi franck, yeah that will help too; getting off that shared 2.4 Ghz frequency. The issue is you’ll see a big speed drop-off the further away you are from the AP compared to 2.4 Ghz which propagates better.

  33. It worked for me, I was using a microsoft bluetooth mouse using windows 10 on a macbookpro 2016.

    Thank you!

  34. Great post. I installed Windows 10 on my Macbook Pro through Boot Camp and couldn’t figure out why the mouse was so sluggish, I thought it might have been a driver issue but you were spot on with the Bluetooth Collaboration cause. I even checked for prrof before disabling by turning off the wifi and the mouse was instantly better. Thanks again.

  35. I Removed the “Realtek Wireless LAN and Bluetooth Driver” and I lost my Wi-Fi 🙂 Strange thing is that I didnt lose my Bluetooth connectivity but only wireless.

I then downloaded the driver from another computer and installed and now it is running ok. And I dont know why but it seems better now. Lagging significantly dropped. So uninstalling and re-installing can also work.

Note : I also searched for the “Bluetooth Collaboration” but couldnt find it.

  36. I just posted a plea for help on my seemingly insolvable bluetooth mouse delay problem (renewed driver, no “bluetooth collaboration” option). Well, it seems I may have stumbled on something: I uninstalled Bose Soundtouch (a bluetooth connection program for Bose devices) and my bluetooth mouse performance seems to have improved considerably. At present, it’s finally usable.

  37. I’ve got a Lenovo MIIX 1030 Windows 10 tablet and have yet to find a solution for serious mouse lag (up to 1 second) giving me a very jerky mouse response. I’ve downloaded and re-installed the driver. There’s no option for bluetooth collaboration. I’ve searched and re-searched the web and have tried every “solution” I’ve come across. The bluetooth mouse has worked OK previously, but now it’s functionality is terrible, even after successive Windows updates.

Any thoughts? Sorry, I can’t recall all the solution attempts I’ve tried – – that’s a problem with being 73.

  38. Thanks!!!
    This fix the problem immediately!
My wifi card is the exact same as yours, and my mouse is microsoft bluetooth 3600. At first I changed the battery, did not work, was going to get another wired mouse until I see your post! Thank you so much!!!!

  39. Uninstalling “Realtek High Definition Audio Driver” fixed it for me.

Though I still have my doubts if it wasn’t just the restarting that fixed it… 🤔

Anyway, thank you for the tip! My mouse works perfectly now!!

  40. None of my drivers had a Bluetooth Collaboration choice. Disabling mouse trails didn’t help. It is an intermittent problem, so it might be related to a windows function that works intermittantly.
It occurs even when disc and memory usage are not maxed out.
    Any other thoughts?

  41. Thank you so much for this post! I had the same problem. The reason was realtek too. I had totally forgotten I had installed a driver a few days ago. You saved me a lot of time, thank you! 🙂
